Paediatric First Aid

This course is suitable for people aged 16+ who may be caring for or responsible for children and babies such as:

  • au pairs
  • nannies
  • childminders
  • nursery and pre-school workers
  • sport and leisure staff
  • crèche leaders

This course is designed to give delegates the skills and confidence to respond to help a baby or child who:

  • is unresponsive and breathing
  • is unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • is choking
  • is bleeding
  • is burnt or has a scald
  • has an object in their eye, ear or nose
  • has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
  • has sickness or a fever

This course also covers the following:

  • meningitis
  • diabetic emergency
  • seizures
  • asthma attack
  • severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • has an injury to a bone muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
  • has a head injury
  • has swallowed something harmful.

The course runs from 9am until 5pm, with a lunch break between the morning and afternoon sessions. Full joining instructions will be issued on completion of payment.

All our training courses are facilitated at our state-of-the-art training centre in the beautiful village of Colinton in Edinburgh. This course offers a practical, hands-on approach that delivers the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real-life situation. Our instructors are mostly UK Armed Forces veterans with many years teaching and life experience. For added reassurance, each delegate is assessed throughout the course using a range of practical demonstrations, Q&A sessions, quizzes and engaging activities designed to coach and support you through the course. On successful completion of this course, you will receive a SALT Services paediatric first aid certificate which is valid for three years. For an additional £10 your certificate will be issued and accredited by the industry leader, Highfield. This course meets the requirements specified by OFSTED and also includes the requirements of the appointed person in the workplace.
